Native Plant Immersion Walk

August 16 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am
$35

Join geographer and naturalist Heather Day-Melgar for a casual 90 minute walk through Tryon Creek State Natural Area. We will practice plant identification and observation, engage in conversation, and learn about traditional uses and importance of our local plants. We will use the smart phone application iNaturalist to practice plant ID, and to contribute to community science.

Heather encourages building a relationship with the local ecosystem through sensory experience. Tryon Creek is located 15 minutes from downtown Portland, and has 8 miles of hiking trails, 8 bridges, a variety of biodiversity, and a boardwalk over a wetland. Dress for possible rain, as this will take place light rain or shine. The group will meet in the parking lot by the visitors center.

Tour accessibility includes: van accessible parking with paved path to visitor center and other paved trails, a paved trail near the Visitor Center, compacted gravel Maple Ridge Trail, accessible restrooms, and many seating areas near visitor center.
