SUMMARY:Online Watercolor Painting with Ronna: The Belted Kingfisher
DESCRIPTION:« All Events\n \n\n	Online Watercolor Painting with Ronna: The Belted Kingfisher\n May 7\n @\n6:00 pm\n –\n7:30 pm \n\n$35 \n \nThis art class will be held live and on Zoom. \nNever far from water\, this stocky bird can commonly be found searching for fish. The Belted Kingfisher has a very distinguished shape and feather pattern that is super fun to paint in watercolor! Come enjoy an evening painting one of the most charismatic local bird species – the Belted Kingfisher\, alongside Ronna Fujisawa during this online watercolor painting class.  \nRonna will demonstrate how to paint feather patterns on this gorgeous bird. The blue gray feathers and burnt orange markings of the female\, is the perfect model for painting. This is a great introduction to Ronna’s signature style of how to mix color and paint loosely in watercolor. \nThe birds will be painted from a photo which will be sent to you before the class. Students will be painting alongside Ronna online\, a step-by-step process she has mastered in painting birds. \nRonna strives to build an atmosphere of learning by encouraging students to take risks\, showing support and encouragement\, and working alongside the class to assist in the understanding of watercolor painting. \n  \nOnline Class Details\n\nDate and time: May 7\, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. \nFee: $25 members / $35 non-members\nWhere: This is an online zoom class. I spent most of my time outside at the beach\, rivers\, and in the woods which created a strong connection to nature. I studied drawing\, painting\, collage and ceramics; graduating from Humboldt State University with a bachelor’s degree in art. I treasure nature and animals\, which have been incorporated into most of my pieces. \nThe Pacific Northwest and Mojave Desert provide a natural beauty that continues to inspire the development of my work. In my studio I can call on past and current experiences\, visions and illustrations to create these unique impressions of the natural world. My physical journeys are reflected in my designs and I am intrigued to follow this path and see where it takes my art. I keep exploring the outdoors to develop this vision of the natural world as I see it.

SUMMARY:Using Colonizers: Botanical Prints
DESCRIPTION:Let’s take an in-depth look at the history of some highly invasive local flowers. We’ll look into why they were introduced\, what ways they’ve impacted our PNW environment and how we can use them responsibly.
